Group Programs :
Kopp’s Kritters Children’s Programs Available as of January 2010 (All programs can be adapted for an adult audience.)
1. If You Were a Parrot – Based on the book “If You Were a Parrot” by Katherine Rawson. This program is geared toward children ages 5 to 8 years of age. The program involves reading the book “It You Were a Parrot” and 4 of my parrots providing the life demonstrations of selected activities mentioned in the book. After a short question and answer session, the children will be given an opportunity to color a parrot and give it a real tail using feathers from my parrots. Parrot beaks will be handed out for them to take home. At the end of the show the children will be given an opportunity to hold a real parrot.
2. Animals the New World Explores Might Have Seen – We will discuss some of the early New World Explores and the animals they might have encountered on the journey through the New World. They children will get a chance to interact with live animals from South America and parts of North America. Some of the animals they might get to encounter are snakes, lizards, turtles, tarantulas, guinea pigs and chinchillas. Also available will be a shrunken head from the Jivaroan peoples of Ecuador and Peru and skulls of animals from Georgia (Georgia law does not allow me to own native animals without a DNR permit.) Program is geared toward children ages 7 to 11 years of age.
3. Meet the Bunny Rabbits – An excellent Easter Program. We will bring up to 5 different breeds of rabbits and tell a little bit about each breed. They children will be given an opportunity to interact with each rabbit. A craft activity will be provided. Rabbit breeds available are English Angora, English Lop Eared, Flemish Giants, French Lop Eared, Mini Rex and Netherlands Dwarf. Program is geared toward children 5 to 10 years of age.
4. Fiber Spinning – Relates well to Independence Day observation. We will discuss how England tried to discourage colonial cloth manufacture by placing high tariffs on looms and spinning wheels. The children will learn the basics of how to card fiber, use a drop spindle and a spinning wheel. The results of processing raw fiber into yarn the children will learn what it took for their ancestors to make their clothes. We will provide the raw fiber, cards, drop spindles and spinning wheel. Program is geared toward children 8 to 11 years of age.
Preschool Programs:
1. Meet the bunnies – we will bring at least 5 different breeds of rabbits for the children to meet. Great program for Easter.
2. Meet the animals – we will bring a variety of animals for the children to get up close and personal with.
3. If you were a parrot – program is based on the book “If You were a Parrot” by Katherine Rawson.
4. Creepy scaly animals – meet different creepy scaly animals with a craft project at the end.
VBS:
For the last day of your VBS why not consider having something different for the children to enjoy. We will bring our animals to your church and set up a mini petting zoo and education area for everyone's enjoyment.
Birthday Parties:
We will bring between 8 to 10 animals to your party. We will bring a variety of small mammals, parrots, lizards and snakes unless you request something different. We have found an hour is usually sufficent. We will make every effort to bring the animals of your choice, but the final determination is made the day of the event based on the temperment of the animal on that day.
Cost: $120 per hour
Classroom Programs:
Grade related programs will be taught according to Georgia Performance Standards. Lessons can be arranged for combined classes in a school gym, cafeteria, common room or for individual class. (We would prefer to limit large group presentations to 60 participants in order to insure a quality program.)
Cost: $100 per hour
Retirement and Assisted-Living Homes:
We will bring very gentle animals to the home for a visit in a common area with the residents for an informal pet-therapy session. Animals usually used for these types of productions include rabbits, guinea pigs, and other small and fuzzy pettable critters. Reptiles will be brought upon request only.
Cost: $100 per hour
Boy and Girl Scouts:
We will bring our animals to your scout meeting and help the scouts learn how to take care of them, what type of animals make good pets, what the laws are in Georgia and to just have a good time. The program will be adjusted according to the age group.
Cost: $5 per scout. Minimum of $25.
